Finance/Membership
Report:
Allison Russell reported:
Additional
$50 membership
$8,087.74
in checking account. A portion of the grant funds will be put
into a CD.
Administration:
Nancy Braker reported:
Bylaws/Articles
of Incorporation Revision and Filing for 501 (c) status: met with
the Friends of Rowan Creek attorney and there are several issues
that need to be resolved by the officers before changes are made
at the membership meeting May 10. The officers agreed to meet
on March 22 at 7 pm at Nancy Braker’s home to discuss the attorney’s
recommendations.
Insurance:
Allison Russell is contacting local insurance companies to obtain
quotes.
Membership
dues discussion: Nancy Braker suggested that the group increase
membership dues. After discussion about the new amounts, Steve
Mueller made a motion to increase membership rates to $20 individual,
$30 family, $250 life, $100 business, $50 nonprofit organizations
and not change $3 junior. Allison Russell seconded the motion.
All were in favor. Motion carried. Publicity Committee Report:
The brochure will not be printed until after the members vote
on the motion to increase membership dues at the May 10 annual
meeting.
Fundraising:
Nancy Braker reported:
Met with the
Village of Poynette to ask for a contribution of $1,000 for the
Ken Potter watershed study. The board could not vote on the issue
because they did not have a quorum. The board recommended that
Nancy attend the Planning Commission meeting. The Planning Commission
made a recommendation that the Village Board make a commitment
of $1,000 for the watershed study. Nancy will present the issue
again at the next Village Board meeting.
Met with the
County Conservation Committee to ask them to be an applicant of
a DNR grant to fund the Ken Potter watershed study. The CCC agreed
only if the Friends of Rowan Creek could get a commitment, in
the form of a resolution in minutes that endorses the county being
a grant applicant, from municipalities in the watershed.
Nancy said
resolutions from municipalities need to be secured before the
CCC meeting April 2. Members of the group volunteered to attend
and will request endorsement at the following meetings:

DNR River
Planning Grant:
Watch for the projects that will need to be accomplished in the
section called "Projects" on the Rowan Creek Website. The Website
will be posted by Theresa Plenty soon.
Other Items:
Display: Steve Mueller reported that he is making progress on
the table top/easel display board. He said he needs the logo on
a transparency so that he can project it and trace it. Nancy Braker
said Steve Braker could provide the logo. There is a budget of
$600 for the project.

terms: Board Member terms are as follows: Theresa Plenty, Yvette
Lokotz, 1-Year (Expire May 10, 2001) Allison Russell, Nancy Braker,
2-Year Dave Egan, Dan Cole, Steve Mueller 3-Year There are will
be 2 or more board members that will need to be nominated at the
May 10 meeting.
Upcoming Meetings:
April 12 features speaker Carl Hilgenberg, Poynette resident.
"Carl Hilgenberg's Personal Experiences of Rowan Creek Over the
Past 50 Years."
