Meeting Minutes - June 14, 2001
Present:
Nancy Braker, Allison Russell, Tom Flesch, Yvette Lokotz, Dan
Cole
Meeting Summary:
We voted for officers. Nancy was re-elected President; Allison
was re-electd Treasurer, Steve was re-elected VP and Tom was elected
Secretary.
We applied for $500 and physical assistance grant for invasive
species control from the Lake Wisconsin Lions club. It's likely
we will get the support. We'll know later this month.
We won't know about the status of the Columbia County grant until
the beginning of July. This is the grant to support the UW-Madison
Watershed assessment study. The grant would be from the DNR to
Columbia County.
We discussed past and upcoming events:
- Spring Fling was successful. We made $59.50. We decided to do
it again next year. We also decided to do some sort of publicity
before the event so people know who we are.
- The prairie planting will be Saturday the 16th. We will do the
planting across from the doctor's office by Pioneer Place. We
talked about getting a permanent plaque to say who donated the
plants and when the planting took place. We also talked about
eventually getting a
bench for the area. Maybe the HS kids could do one.
- Rain garden demo will be June 23rd from 8:00-12:00. Master Gardener
newsletter will have a blurb about it. We should take a picture
and submit it to the paper with an article.
- Fish Survey Demonstration - Tom and Nancy will work on this.
The date may be earlier than 9/13 or 9/15.
Upcoming workshops in "board member basics" and grassroots
conservation organizations were discussed. Allison and Nancy may
attend the River Alliance one; Dan may attend the board member
one.
Nancy asked if 3000 copies of the new brochure should be ordered
from the printer. Cost would be $450 from Kinkos. We voted that
3000 copies was fine. A mailing will follow.
We discussed leadership of the committees. They are as follows:
Long Range Planning -Nancy with Allison
Publicity/Communications - Dan with Tom and Theresa

a consultant or would do it ourselves. Allison and Nancy will
continue to interview consultants and we will continue the discussion
at future board meetings.
